Wanderings: Kashmir

May 6, 2016

Hidden in the mountains, there exists paradise.  Its valleys are verdant, its peaks snowy.  The sun and shadow play games of chess across the sky, where moments of dazzling sun are quickly swallowed in brooding clouds. Where the mirrored lakes reflect the many moods of the sky and where flowers seem to bloom in a never ending profusion of color. This is a valley of trees and flowing brooks, of marsh lands, and crumbling cities, of hollowed ruins, and memories of more beautiful times.

Kashmir

To enter into the Valley of Kashmir is to enter into a dream. With temperatures soaring into the upper 40’s we fled the Pink City for the green hills surrounding Srinagar. The next stop on our Journey Palladio series, Srinagar, has forever held us entranced, and we knew now was the time for an adventure.

Inspired from the limitlessness of India, Journey Palladio is an exploration into the soul of a place, into imagined worlds and histories: a return to the romance of travel. Srinagar and the Valley of Kashmir are the stars in our series of weekend travels, for no other place in India seems to be so perfectly situated in the heart of beauty.  When the summer temperature rise on the plains the best place to come is Kashmir.

Come Experience a Theatre of Travel: a world of houseboats and afternoon teas, of garden parties and mountain picnics, of mosque, music, and mountains. We found a world of incredible warmth and genoristy, with a cultural incredibly unique and self assured, and while the pictures may be pretty they can come nowhere close in conveying the magic that is Kashmir.
